Re: Here is my FREE bike!

samir_nayanajaad
I'm still debating pods or stacks.  Leaning for stacks because I'd like to have them for when I do a turbo. Think it would look better all around and work better at lower RPM and no or little boost.  The big down side would be running no filter before I get the turbo installed. Might just do stock airbox until the turbo is added as that's cheapest and works.
Why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam? I swear to god one of these days, I just kick this piece of shit out the window.

I am wondering how you polished up everything on your bike and cleaned up the rust cause I really liked the way it came out and was wanting to copy you if thats ok but dont want to leave sand paper marks on things that are not going to be painted

Samir,i have yet to ebay my stock air cleaner box just because i want to leave myself that option.I ,myself, would never run any engine without some sort of air filter.Stacks do look plum cool, but dirt in the air will eat rings so flippin' fast it aint funny

Cowboy, when i polished my bike i sanded everything down with 360 grit sand paper. Most of it i did with either a DA sander or one of those little 2 1/2" rotary tools that you get to go in your drill. After getting thing sanded down with air tolls i followed it up with the same grit, but by hand, just to have all the sanding marks in the same direction.Makes it easier to polish that way,I think. For polishing i got two buffer wheels from Lowe's.They mount on your bench grinder.A medium and a hard wheel.I think they are about $8 each.I bought my compound from there, too.Three stages of compound: 1st stage-heavy cleaning      2nd stage-medium cleaning     3rd stage-Final high luster polish.    That is what they were called in the tubes that they come in.I only use the medium wheel for the final stage of compound.  It sound like alot of stages, but it really doesnt take that long.My stator cover was the most time consuming piece because it required the most sanding to get it smooth. It still took less than an hour start to finish.Oet me know if i can be of any more help,or if you have any specific questions i will try my best to help you.Go for it!

NOTE TO ANYONE THAT TOOK MY RECOMMENDATIONS ON ENGINE PAINT. The clear coat that i used has yellowed pretty bad.DO NOT USE IT. I hope i was able to catch someone before they run into the same problem i just ran into.It said high heat,so i thought it would be ok.I apologize for any trouble i may have caused anyone.

Disclaimer aside,i rode another 120 miles today

I dont know if anyone on here has heard of the Peaks of Otter

This is just a picture of Boxley's Quarry in Blue Ridge.I thought it was a cool shot, because they won't let you anywhere near that giant hole in the ground.I always wanted to get in there with my KTM's.For perspective, that stretch of road you see running beside the white metal building is US Route 460.It is a divided 4 lane highway. That metal building houses 3 of those HUGE dump trucks that you see at these kind of places.Im not sure what theyre called. You know, the ones with like 15 foot tall tires??Its a big hole

I don't know about all of that ^^^ ,but i think it is evident why they call this area Blue Ridge. These mountains always look this color

This one is just for showing off.I know....

While cleaning out the barn today i ran across these old emblems that i had completely forgot about.I helped a buddy haul off an old chest freezer several years ago and i stole these emblems off of it.I just thought they looked cool.Today when i noticed they said Kansas City on them,i knew what i had to do.You know, since half of my parts came from Kansas City Motorcycle Emporium. It just seemed fitting

I whipped up a little aluminum backing, polished it(of course)and popped it on the tank with some good ol' 3M double-sided tape. The two screws are fakes.I figured an old fashioned emblem should at least appear to be bolted on. No more modern looking Suzuki emblems on my cafe Honda!!!The pic sucks.Camera doesnt work well under the flourescent lights.

What do ya'll think about super bike bars?Would it absolutely kill the cafe look? They seem like a good middle ground.

I think the superbike bars are  nice middle ground between cafe and back/neck ache. . You might try some old dirt bike bars, and install them upside down or standard. The dirt bike bars are nearly flat, about a 1" rise (or drop), with just a little pullback. Almost like drag bars but not straight out.
