Thanks Craig!

Hellbilly,i agree 100%! I'm trying to avoid black if I can. My silver bike is the first thing I ever built that DIDNT get painted black. I'm trying to diversify...but black is beautiful. No,I don't have the levers. I think Pat just finished the clutch lever today.

Started on my forward controls today. Using the stock controls wasnt gonna work out for me. Just felt cramped sitting on it. I had to buy these bronze bushings and the little things were nearly $5 a piece! So, I gotta about $20 in it so far.

Bronze bushings, 1" black iron pipe (we use for running natural gas lines) and some Too-bing trimmings left over from HJ.

Too-bing pressed into the gas pipe and plug welded in place

Bronze bushing pressed into the Too-bing

Washer welded on to the main bar to locate the sleeve

Drill and tap the tip end of the main bar

1/4'' bolt and washer.Presto! Sleeve wont fall off. Turns super free right now,but I'm still going to polish these surfaces anyways.

Pattern for tha banans to fasten to the engine mounts-paint preserved!

It's bananas-b-a-n-a-n-a-s!     ( ...I know....)

Stand-offs welded on.I'm stoked right now. These forwards are turning out to be super easy...hope the linkage works out OK.

Scroll up Lucky. :) working on making some forward controls right now. And on the hunt for petcock fittings. Using dual Triumph petcocks so I can actually have a working reserve. I got the petcocks, just need the adapter fittings for the bottom. I think I'm on to something, though. I think.

Forwards are done! I've been looking at a lot of pics online and just didnt see any forwards that i liked. They were either billet looked like ''car pedals''H.B.  or had funky looking pedals that looked like some kid had bedazzled them. I wanted pedals that looked old. What looks like old bike pedals?...I know!...old bike pedals!

I got these two old shifter pedals from Eric for $10. Clevis' for the linkages ran me $15 for the 4 of 'em. So here are my $45 forward controls

I know the brake linkage looks funky, but it was the only way to clear the kicker.Love my kicker.

Pedals angled slightly. I first had them straight like most I saw,but your feet dont point like that when you're on the bike.Pic looks crooked as $(@&. But i swear they are even.

Extension for the brake pedal. Swoopy curves not needed for any clearance reason. Swoopy curves because straight lines are boring and look like you didn't try.

NO SPLINES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS PEDAL...sometimes i get lucky

Back off, sandblasted and ready for powder

And I got my new tires today! Woo Hoo! Too bad Fedex cant find my sprocket they 'delivered' so i cant see the bike on the ground yetFed ex in Roanoke seriously sucks.Seriously.Man I can't wait to ride this thing.

Awesome job on those controls. Great craftsmanship and fabrication skills, they look better than store bought. And $45! You can't beat that with a stick. Wow!

Speaking of dual petcocks, got to thinking that gas tank would look good with dual gas caps, or maybe a gauge set into it that mirrors the gas cap in position and size?

I love those forwards, to me they look to be sort of skeletal, I like skeletal, may need a set made myself when I get some money to get back to working on my bike.....

Are you going to put crash bars around them tho so they don't get tweaked if you lay it down?

I thought about crash bars, but nah, probably not. The plan is to not lay it downDon't jinx me dude! Besides,if these get trashed I'll just make a new set. After getting these together I had some better ideas on how to make them. Chomping at the bit to ride this thing.

I hear ya man. You never know what's gonna happen. I'm still kinda looking into the crash bars. I was trying to get a new set of grips for this thing and went all over town. I ended up at the H-D dealership (always a fun place to observe). Of course, they didn't have anything cool,or to even fit 7/8'' bars.Dumb me. Guy told me if it was a chopper than it had to have 1'' bars. I just tried to walk away.He kept talking,so i decided to change the subject. We talked about other things and he asked if grips was all that was keeping me from riding. I mentioned my rear wheel alignment issues. Long story short- once the cat was out of the bag my 'chopper' had a Honda engine it was all down hill. " Thats why your wheel dont line up,choppa's is s'posed to have Harley engines in 'em. Honder never builded choppas".....he said Honder.

Friggin ignorant a$$ holes. How the &$(! can someone be that stupid. I hate stupid people. Of course, big mouth me,trying to inform the local H-D parts counter slaesman of things like aftermarket built chopper frames for aaaall kinds of bikes. American,Brit,Jap....staring at me like a cow looking at a new gate.......no wonder his hair looked so dirty. That's what happens when you live with your head up your ass.

Re: Just got home with my new toy-GME plunger

Hellbilly429
Yup, which is the only reason I have problems with HD people, too many of them have HUAS, Head Up Ass Syndrome.

So, my solution to your problem as I have run into it already once before with my grips (remember my ratty old thread?) buy the coolest 1" grips you can find, the left-hand grip will fit the throttle tube perfectly, and then create a bushing for the other grip that will fill the gap between the grip and the bar. Drill a hole through the bushing and bar then place a bolt or pin (or whatever works for you) through them to hold the bushing in place so it does not come off. This way your grips fit, and your bushing is still removable in case you need to take it off for any reason.

That's a pretty good idea there man. I actually ended getting an old set of penta grips. I like the feel of the smaller grips. I think they fit the look of the bike too.

I think thoughs foot rest look beefy enough to were you don't need crash guards , Still waiting on my stuff to be welded ,need them bad by next week or may have to remove running boards to be more safe.

I just had to put up some good pics of these levers.Reflective little boogers are hard to photograph. After about 40 tries I got two pics that almost show how good they look

Fedex finally showed up with my rear sprocket. Anywho,so with that in I was able to make up my chain and get the rear wheel and all that situated. Oil pump dowels and levers came in ,so the oil pan is on and oil is in the bike.Yay,I didnt forget! Just waiting on fuel fittings to arrive I'll be good. Oh,yeah. Dumped the old massive grips for something more fitting. The new grips will soon be modifiedSomebody gave me a cool idea on them...
