They didn't have braided line in '75?

The current 'period' is 2012,so it's 'correct' Dont get me wrong, period stuff is cool, but i'll trade braided line for screw clamps and rubber hose every single time. Any luck on those raked trees? Dont know the trail on this bike yet, might not be able to rake it out anyways. I cant find a decent looking way to mount my speedo. Not worried about a tach.Plugged that off. I need a brainstorm. Hate to spend for a mini speedo.

Dont worry, you'll never see me own a piece of billet.Never!

It might be a few days before I can check with the guy about trees, I'm pretty busy with classes starting again.

No more black master cylinder. Rebuilt and polished. Boy,that thing really hangs out there!

Also,no more chain oiler. I didn't trust it not to leak since the rubber on it was super hard. It is 14mm thread,so it's the same as a small or big block Chevy spark plug.

One used bbc plug,a vise and a hammer.Whack!

But the ground strap and the electrode on the plug stick out too far and it wont go in far enough to seal the hole in the output shaft that the oil comes out of.

So grind those off and seal the tip with epoxy. No seepage possible.Teflon on the threads and you're good to go.

Not the prettiest, but its free. New sprocket there. The surface of the teeth are not smooth at all! Is that cool,or should I try to dress it somehow?Almost seems sandblasted.

Wished I had an oiler, putting the blowby on that side ,will work just fine.
If you have long enough lines(witch you should)slid it to outside and just stuff the grip or get new teflon peace.

I think, you should have left the spark plug complete, and run a plug wire to it. That would get some looks, and questions.
Leave the sprocket alone. I know your dieing to polish it.

Amen. Nice looking scooter. What are you thinking of doing with it? I must admit I am tired as a momma cat with 10 kittens of the chopper. That's just me though. I realize they appeal to a lot of people. I Think the Tuttles just turned me off, or... maybe it's just me.

I would however someday build a replica chopper of the one Peter Fonda rode in Born to be Wild. Have fun with it! brother.

Piute-you mean trim the throttle sleeve shorter to slide the m/c over? I guess I could spare an 1'' maybe

Tools-NO! lol I wasn't gonna polish it, it's just real gritty. Seems it would eat a chain up,but we all know I'm no expert on chains. I'll let you do the spark plug trick.Would look good with your wrong side kick stand

Ghost- I hear ya. 100%.  Not long ago I said the same thing. When I was approached with the opportunity to buy this bike I never would dreamt I actually would. I have to admit,I went to look at it as a 'Tire Kicker". Just going to check out a neat old scooter. But then I sat on it. Dude,it just feels soo right to sit on this thing! Go sit on one then come back and report-you'll see what I mean!

Pull the sleeve futher out ,for more room, don't cut it,Stuff the end if it fills weak before putting the grip on.

I didn't post enough updates?lol. These early parts are awful. I'm trying to get the brake caliper and mounts polished up but these castings are just pitiful. You can actually sand them ,in an attempt to somewhat smooth them, and open up a whole new pore in the part. They are soo rough. The caliper on my 76 was super smooth. Order my tires today. I was undecided between  a black wall for the rear,or one of those double whites Piute posted. Was thinking on that all week and finally decided to go with the black wall. I got most all of my parts in,just waiting on a couple pieces.

DONE:

Master cylinder rebuilt and on the bike
Carbs gone thru and mounted
New chain sitting on the bench
All new wiring and stator and field coil passed the ohms test
New plugs and made new wires
Rear brakes were good
Front caliper/piston are good-getting polished
Top clamp replaced
New oil lines
Donated clutch perch polished and mounted
Forks de-ceramic coatedpolished and rebuilt
Gaitors added!
New wheel bearings and seals
All gaskets (not head or base)and seals replaced-tach seal from CycleX complete gasket kit doesnt fit-waaay too small

WAITING ON:
Eric is making me new throttle cables
Tires ordered today
Levers-killing me! anticipation!

NEED TO DO:
Mount exhaust
Install oil pump and pan
Level crooked oil cooler-remember...
Figure out speedo mounting-buy a mini?
Grips????
Forward controls? $$$$
Bike needs a name-ALL bikes need a name

I honestly expected this thing to sit for a long time until funds came in,but work has been great the past few weeks. Stoked! We're usually real slow around this time.
