Good idea sees! I didn't think of that. Guess I'll have to head back to the hardware store. It's an 8mm right?

Honestly I don't remember, but if you bring the bolt with you, you can check with an 8 mm nut from the loose nut drawer.

Peacocks are notoriously difficult be a use Honda changed them almost every year.
Are you able to measure the thread? Maybe your tank isn't stock, and is from a different year?

Don't give up! You're so close

Yes, finding the correct petcock blows! Took me a lot of searching as they changed on our DOHC's almost every year just as Seestheday said...
Maybe this will help you out.

Agreed, your tank is definately an "F" but who's to say someone didn't swap out the petcock at some point with something that "fit".... but is your trouble the thread size on the bung? Might be a year thing.

Dude!
If you can pic up a brand new OEM petcock for the price of either of those you posted DO IT!

The one for my '82 K tank was over $250 for a NOS on e-bay ... $400+ for the dealer

It is the bung size! It's a 16mm I believe and the one I recieved from vintage was 18mm. I think I will. The universal one I got from eBay the seller just emailed me and said he might've sent the wrong one and to let him know when it gets here... I'll figure something out. Thanks you guys!

I got a replacement for the leaking petcock on my 79F from one of the powersport vendors on ebay.  I believe it was a 16mm also.  I've looked back through my receipts to try and locate the vendor for you, but so far, no joy.

SHE LIVES!!! HA! started her up for the first time in about a year on Sunday. Ran pretty well at first, but when it started to warm up the bike would start strong about 2k idle with the choke all the way out and then slowly just die out. and it sounded reeeeallly rough when i would rev it. Had sort of a knock, but I think thats normal on these right?

So im thinking i need to check the valve clearance, do the cam chain tensioning again and adjust the timing.

Any other suggestions? I'll try to post a video of it starting when I get home tonight. It starts with just one push of the button when the choke is on now though.

Best feeling in the world right there!!

Have you synced your carbs yet? That could account for the roughness and the knocking sound.

Well, I went to start her up today to sync the carbs and the starter clutch started slipping again.  I'm thinking the springs I got from ACE were a bit too stiff for it... wouldn't really disengage once the engine started for a while. So, I ordered a full rebuild kit for it. I also ordered some rear shocks . Soon fellahs soon!

Also, thanks sees for that little how to guide to fix the speedo! Mine hasn't worked and had no idea why till i saw that! looks like i need to repack the grease and re-seat the mechanism.

Looks good from where I am setting.  I bet it would look even better on the bike with you on it going down the road. This weather sucks.

Thanks guys! so my starter clutch rebuild kit came in the other day along with some new progressive rear shocks! . I'm going to install both tonight... as far as the rear shocks go would putting the bike on a center stand and taking the weight off the rear wheel do the trick for taking off the old ones?
